Chillin' Out (A Picture Story)

After a long day of work, I come home and settle down for a long nap.
The day was busy. I had to teach my owners that my food bowl should always be full.

Then I heard a dog outside. I was so scared that I ran to the linen closet to hide.
After the coast was clear, I decided that it was a good time for a snooze.
Then my sister and I had a "Who can fit in the wierdest place?" contest.
She agreed that I won.
After all that work, I'm so glad that I can finally sleep in peace.
After all, it is my duty to make sure that the house is in perfect condition.

THE END

Cats are better than dogs

Have you visited the "CATS or Dogs?" page recently? We're going to post some stories and facts from that page here. If you like dogs better than cats, here's one fact that applies to both cat and dog lovers...

Believe it or not: Some people believe that cats have superpowers. Not that they can fly, or become invisible or anything like that, but people like Dr. Rupert Sheldrake believe that people and animals can have psychic connections. This goes for cats and dogs...

These animals can sense a coming bombing or earthquake...

Cats and dogs might respond to their owners' suffering or death even if they're far away...

They can detect when a loved one is calling on the phone before the phone is picked up...

Cats and dogs hide on a day they are supposed to go to the vet before the carrier is taken out. (We're sure you can relate to that :D)

And now for stories about amazing cats! Even if you don't like cats, you could still find something that amazes you!

"Cats are smarter than dogs. You can't get eight cats to pull a sled through snow."
~Jeff Valdez

A study proved that owning a cat reduces your chance of heart disease by 30%. The same thing was not proved with dogs. For more information on this, you can visit this website.

A cat in Florida fell out of the sixteenth floor in an apartment building and survived! Wow!

"If animals could speak, the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow, but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much."
~Mark Twain

Cats are the most popular pet in North America. There are 73 million cats compared to 63 million dogs, and over 30% of North American households own cats. Source: http://facts.randomhistory.com/interesting-facts-about-cats.html

Today is National Cat Day! We hope that you are going to do something to show your love for cats even if it is just spending a little more time with your beloved cat. We collected some cat rescue stories that are posted below, but first, we'd like to make this announcement: Because of the black cat being a symbol for halloween, some people have associated black cats with evil purposes. This superstition has caused some black cats not to be able to find nice homes. However some studies have shown (but not proven) that cats with black fur might generally have better behavior. And speaking of black cats, if you own a black cat they would make a great Halloween picture to send in for the Halloween photo contest!
But back to the cat rescue stories! Here are some of the cat rescue stories we've collected...
A cat named Buddy was saved by HART from a rural shelter after his owner became ill and couldn't care for him. Buddy was adopted February of 2011.
A cat named Smoky was rescued off the streets and nursed to health.
A cat named Ellie was rescued from an adoption event where she was being mistreated by a mean cat.
A cat named Boog was rescued from living outside after she had continually showed up at a particular house over and over.
A cat named Lucky was rescued from a parking lot full of people but she belonged to no one. He was very scared but turned out to be a very nice cat. He almost didn't make it because he was sick but turned out ok.

More stories will be posted throughout the day so keep checking back. Remember-it's not too late to send in your own cat rescue stories. All we need is your cats' name and where you rescued him/her from. Have a great National Cat Day!
