Why Cats Make Great Pets Reason #5

Having a cat in your home is great for plenty of reasons! This week we've proven that

  • Cats are good for your heath, and help to lower your blood pressure and risk of heart attack
  • Cats are funny and reduce stress levels
  • Owning a cat is low-maintenance--they don't need to be walked and are content with curling up next to you, purring. And,
  • Cats are affectionate, and will give you tons of love.
As if that isn't enough already, all of these things and more, combined together, have proven that cats make you happier.
Cats have been proven to make people happier--one reason they do is their funny antics.
Cats make a person happier in many ways. Caring for a cat creates a sense of purpose, and improves morale. It also inspires people to take better care of themselves.

Hearing your cat purr also increases happiness and, as mentioned in an earlier post, has other health benefits.

Owning a cat can make a person feel loved and needed. Not to mention that laughing at a cat's funny behavior makes a person happier as well.

Overall, it has been proven that happier people are healthier people.

There are so many reasons as to why cats make great pets! The benefits are limitless. We've only listed five ways here, but all of them will be apparent if ever a furry feline steps into your home.

Why Cats Make Great Pets--#4

Cats are funny, loving, and help reduce stress levels, but some people might need something more to convince them that cats make wonderful pets. Here's reason #4:

Taking care of a cat is easy, and, as proven yesterday, cats give you lots of love in return. Of course, like any pet, it costs money to have a cat--vet appointments, food, toys, litter box, other essentials... but there are definite things about cat care that are very easy.

First, cats are satisfied with simple toys. If you want to give your cat a fun treat, just fill a sock with catnip, tie off the end, and your cat is occupied with tons of fun! Cats will play with balls of tinfoil and paper, and even play with yarn--but do be careful when cats play with objects like these. Make the toy balls large enough that they cannot be swallowed, and always supervise play with yarn so your cat doesn't eat it.

Cats also don't need to be walked like dogs do, as they get exercise from playing with their toys (or with each other) indoors.

On top of that, cats use the litter box, so they don't have to go outside like dogs. Also, it is highly recommended that cats stay indoors, as it is much safer there for them.

When they are awake, lots of cats are energetic, but cats do sleep a lot, sometimes comically as you saw on Sunday. Relaxing with a sleeping cat against you is not only calming, but a great bonding time.

Make sure to come back tomorrow for the fifth and final reason as to why cats make great pets.

Why Cats Rule as Pets--Reason #3

Not only do cats improve your health and provide endless laughs, but--and here's reason #3 that cats make great pets--they will give you unending love in return.

No cat owner will deny that their cat loves them. When she looks at you with happy eyes, or purrs and rubs against your legs, you'll know. But if that isn't enough proof, try this:

http://www.petcentric.com/07-13-2009/do-cats-feel-love

It shows all the different ways that cats love, including that they have, amazingly, traveled long distances to find their owners through places they do not know. *

The article also notes incidents in which the cat has risked her life for her owner. After the owner fell out a window, the cat jumped, too. **

Clearly, cats are full of love for their people, and will love you boundlessly. Come back tomorrow to see reason #4 as to why cats make GREAT pets!

*Do not try this at home! :) It is not safe for cats to go outside, especially through places they don't know.

**Do not try this either!!!!!!

Why Cats Make Great Pets--Part 2

Yesterday we learned that owning a cat can improve your health, but if that's not enough to prove that cats are great pets, here's reason number two:

Cats are funny. Hilarious, even. In fact, the internet is filled with all kinds of funny cats--and your home could be, as well!

Plus, cats can entertain themselves, and don't need to go on multiple walks a day. When cats run around the room chasing their toys--or playing with each other--they get their exercise and you get entertainment!

Of course, cats are not always solitary animals! Even though they can entertain themselves and are happy to just be around you, cats will love you boundlessly. But that's for tomorrow!

In the meantime, here are some cats for your entertainment:

Why Cats Make Great Pets

Have you ever wondered if getting a cat would be a good idea? After all, it costs time and money to feed your cat, buy her toys, give her attention, and change that litter in the litter box. So why go through the trouble, you may ask.

There are plenty of reasons as to why cats make great pets. Over today and the next four days, we will show you 5 of the BEST REASONS that you need a cat.

First, and this is one that is undisputable, owning a cat reduces a person's stress levels. When you come home and see a cat run to the door in greeting, it makes you feel less lonely and therefore relieves your stress. Cats can even sense when you're feeling down by your scent and behavior. Cats will generally behave in a comforting way when you feel upset, whether it's rubbing against you or purring.

In addition, owning a cat has other health benefits. A cat's purr does not only reduce stress, but it also lowers blood pressure and risk of heart attack.

There's reason #1 for why cats make the best pets! Come back tomorrow for reason #2.
